When their corporate sponsors SPENDLOVE B. JEBB pulled out in 2014, the world championships where at an end- the trailblazing empire of electronic sport was over.. Rome fell, Wrightbus wronged, Pong crumbled...
But thanks to the kind financial support of NI Science Festival the tournament is back!
For those living on the underside kind of rock the idea is simple; Two Bats (electronic and operated by humanoids) and one ball (electronic- but square) do battle (in meat space) to see who will become the Pong master.
As part of the evening we’ll have some classic confrontations, some relics of the game will go head to head, masters of the paddle such as; Tomas ‘El puto’ Gorman, Sarah ‘The Sander' Jones or Stuart 'Windowpane' Watson will be in competition with each other.
All the action is projected onto the big screen in High Definition! Ciniligus will be providing state of the art camera and projection intrusion and analysis of the competitors eyes, sweat glans and bladder functions. Our Commentators Paddy Bloomer and Richard West will give live running commentary on the action.
